October is Health Literacy Month, a time to promote the importance of clear health communication.
This month, we are kicking off the 13th annual #PlainPledge. When you take the #PlainPledge, you commit to avoiding jargon when communicating with patients, clients, or community members. In the past, the #PlainPledge centered on the “simple selfie.” Health professionals and health professions students wrote a jargon word on a Word Buster, took a selfie with it, and shared it on social media. This year, we are collecting pledges a little differently through our new virtual Jargon Jar.
