Anita Bucur is the bilingual program administrator for the UAMS Center for Health Literacy. In this role, she leads the Center’s Spanish plain language and field testing services and contributes to its writing, editing, and training work. Her work helps organizations communicate clearly across languages, better understand the people they serve, and turn audience insights into health information that is clearer, more relevant, and actionable. Anita has also shared her expertise at state and national conferences and as a judge for several plain language and health literacy awards.

Anita also supports the Arkansas Prevention Research Center for Women’s Health, UAMS’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded Prevention Research Center, by helping make its training, educational materials, and other resources clear, useful, and available in Spanish.

Before joining the Center, Anita led Spanish translation efforts for the UAMS MammoVan, helping connect Spanish-speaking Arkansans with breast cancer screening information and services as the program’s project coordinator.

Anita earned dual bachelor’s degrees in international studies and Spanish from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She also holds a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Business Administration from UA Little Rock. She is fluent in Romanian and Spanish and proficient in French.

Outside of work, Anita enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and playing sports.
