#RuralHealthChat: Rural Health Literacy – April 27, 2017

People in rural areas are often facing an uphill battle when it comes to their health, and one of the most important but least understood challenges is health literacy. Health literacy is the ability of a patient to understand medical information that is presented to them.

Sometimes this is focused on the patient’s individual comprehensive skills, but increasingly the focus is on how information is presented and what organizations involved in community health can do to present vital information in a way that is accessible.

We’ll be using the hashtag #RuralHealthChat on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11 am Central to tweet with experts working to improve health literacy from around the country. Everyone is welcome to follow along and jump in with comments, questions, and any useful information on health literacy that they would like to share!
