The CHL Welcomes Two New Team Members

The Center for Health Literacy is pleased to welcome Nancy Dockter and Andrea Roy to our team. Nancy is joining the CHL as our Plain Language Coordinator. She earned a master of public health degree in 2006 from UAMS and also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky. She has a background in technical writing and journalism and has worked as a freelance writer and news reporter in central Arkansas. Since 2002, she has held several positions at UAMS, all of which have entailed writing, editing, and management of projects of various kinds. She worked as an editor and research assistant in the Department of Psychiatry, research assistant/associate in the Department of Health Policy & Management and Office of Community-Based Public Health and as administrative staff in the Center for Diversity Affairs. Prior to joining the Center for Health Literacy (CHL), she worked in the College of Public Health as the assistant dean for communications and external affairs.

Andrea Roy is the new CHL Assistant Director of Operations. Andrea obtained her bachelor of business administration from UALR. Andrea has an extensive background in human resources and financial management. She has also worked in various administrative roles in her 31 years of service to UAMS. This experience includes budget administration, human resources, student and educational services, and financial administration. Prior to joining the Center for Health Literacy, Andrea worked at the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement where she served as the Fiscal Manager. She provided overall management of the department’s financials and budget development as well as monitoring of grants, contracts, travel, procurement and human resource management.
